WHERE DO I STAND?
I would encourage you to contact me directly with any questions or concerns as it is difficult to boil down complex issues into small talking points. However below is a list of a few policy items and what I believe.
PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS
The right to own, modify, and dispose of property is a fundamental tenet of a free society. A government that allows that exchange to continue with as little interference as possible, is critical to maintaining economic growth and freedom.
PUBLIC LANDS
HEALTH CARE
INNOVATION
2ND AMENDMENT
ENERGY
We are blessed as a state to have access to millions of acres of state and federal lands. Ensuring that these lands are properly managed and maintained, and that those who rely upon these lands for hunting, fishing, grazing, recreation, and other uses have a prominent voice in those decisions is key to the future of our state.
My family, like many others in Cache Valley has experienced an unsustainable increase in our insurance and medical costs. Targeting waste and abuse, providing greater patient choice, and minimizing government overreach are vitally important if we are going to have affordable health care in this state.
Energy development has been crucial to our economic development and strength. In order for us to continue to maintain our current standard of living, it is important we are able to to continue to develop all viable sources of power.
I am an avid sportsman and spend as much time in the field as possible chasing waterfowl, big game, and upland birds. I also actively participate in shooting sports and am a proud concealed weapons holder.
It is not the role of government to pick winners or losers. Free markets and minimal regulation foster growth and will expand opportunities for people of all socioeconomic levels.
TAXES
FIRST RESPONDERS
Low taxes encourage investment and spending which grow and maintain strong economies.
I am the son of a police officer and a proud supporter of our police, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders.
Parents must always have the ability to choose what is best for their children. That said, we must ensure adequate funding to maintain an educated society, including providing excellent opportunities for higher education.
EDUCATION
GOVERNMENT
The Government that governs least governs best. A small limited government that is close to the people is the best way to hold elected officials accountable and insure that the needs of individuals are most efficiently met.
FEDERALISM
The 10th amendment specifies that the powers not enumerated by the Constitution are left to the states. As such, it is important that conservative principles and small government ideals are implemented in the halls of the state legislature.
TRANSPORTATION
Cache County is one of the fastest growing portions of the state. In order to ensure our community continues to grow and thrive, it’s important that we place a high value on infrastructure here and actively prioritize scarce state road project dollars.
